When You Started Out, Was It New Or Second Hand?

Recommended Posts

'The Beginners Air Rifle' post has spurred me on with this one. I don't want to hijack that thread so here we are.

My first gun was a second hand BSA Meteor .22 that i paid £15 for when I was 16.

I was working when I got my next gun, so it was brand new. An ASI (El Gamo) Magnum .22 (£47 from Streatham Armouries) which I hated. My second choice would have been the Webley Victor.

After that it was a brand new Webley Vulcan Custom .22 from JS Ramsbottom for £99 it was New, Old Stock.

Since then they have all been second hand. It would have to be a really good deal to tempt me to buy new now.

There is so much choice with second hand. Even the Bee's Knees can be affordable.

I had a B2 and spent my weekends constantly pinking away tin cans and spending all my pocket money on bulldog, hustlers and marksman pellets. Just the sight of one of them pellet tins brings back some good memories and fuzzy feeling!

Yep had gat gun too. The hustlers I used had a twisty plastic yellow top lid with a square hole and you twisted it and it open and pop a few pellet's out. Was sure the twin rings gave me big power oops lol. I had a meteor after that too and had rabbits with it at about 15 yards lol.

After that had an 85. I recently got one and gave it a bit of tlc. Iv not done anything with it yet (will put that right soon) but when I see it it's an emotional moment. Strange eh! Lol.
